A BRIEF HISTORY OF BETA CHAPTER

Beta originally started at Salt Lake Elementary School twenty four years ago in 1984.

Webster's dictionary defines "Beta" as the second letter of the Greek alphabet and
the second star in the Constellation. The concept of using letters of the Greek alphabet
was an idea conceived back then by HBDA's founder, Eugene Ichinose

In 1991, the chapter moved to Manana Elementary School and
became a part of the Pearl City Chapter.

Then, after a period of dormancy during the mid-nineties,

"The Rebirth of a Chapter"

Beta Chapter had its second start in August 1998 during the year of the Tiger when,
after being approved by the Council, it moved to Moanalua Elementary School.
Classes were held at Moanalua Elementary School until August 2007.

After which, the chapter returned to Manana Elementary School
where its classes are now being held.

Notwithstanding the dormant period, Beta Chapter is now
in its 24th year (1984-2008) of offering classes
